Murder trial for Carter County man underway

The trial for a man charged with murder in Carter County began on Tuesday. Jacob Morley is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the 2022 death of Cody Birchfield. Morley pleaded guilty on Monday to burglary and theft. The defense argued that the shooting was not premeditated. The prosecution believes they can prove otherwise.
