Hurricane recovery legislation makes its way through TN special session
Helene recovery remains a top priority for Tennessee state lawmakers during the special legislative session, and a proposed $450 million aid package passed its first hurdle Tuesday. District 3’s Timothy Hill is serving as chair of the House Disaster Relief Committee for the special session. Representative Bud Hulsey of Kingsport is serving as vice chair. Both lawmakers represent areas hard hit by Hurricane Helene Flooding. The state estimates that damage is going to cost around $1.2 billion in Tennessee alone. All three disaster relief bills passed and will now move to Finance Ways and Means to figure out where that relief money will come from.
