Chilhowie driver dies from truck crash injuries

A driver died from injured sustained in a single vehicle crash in Smyth County.

According to a preliminary report from the Virginia State Police, 68-year-old Jimmie Stokes was in his pickup on Loves Mill Road in Chilhowie when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

Stokes died from his injuries the next day. The wreck remains under investigation.
