JC woman accused of killing her children appears in court

The Johnson City woman accused of killing her two children in October appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday. 28 year old Jessica Chandler is charged with two counts of first degree murder. The incident took place on October 29 at a home on Omaha Drive. Investigators previously said poison was suspected in the deaths of Chandler’s 1-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter, whose father discovered them unresponsive when he arrived at her home that day. Official autopsies during the proceedings listed the causes of death for both children as asphyxiation by smothering. Three handwritten notes from Chandler were located at the scene and were read during Tuesday’s hearing. Chandler’s next court date is set for March 31st.
