JC Schools to begin search for new superintendent
Johnson City Schools will begin the search for a new Superintendent as Steve Barnett has announced he will step down from his position in 2025. Barnett, who has been in the position as superintendent for 8 years, intends to remain in the position and continue working until January 31. He will join the Niswonger Foundation as it’s hief operating officer. Barnett became the superintendent in 2017 after Richard Bales announced his retirement. After Barnett officially leaves his role on January 31, an interim superintendent will take his place until the permanent position is filled. School board officials say they hope to have a permanent replacement by the beginning of the next school year.
