Virginia’s Operation FREE takes 550 pounds of fentanyl off the streets
Governor Glenn Youngkin says the first of its kind operation involving more than 170 agencies from 13 states has kept a substantial amount of fentanyl off of the streets.
A governor’s office report said more than 550 pounds of fentanyl has been seized and 1,081 suspects have been arrested in the first 45 days of Operation FREE, Fentanyl Awareness, Reduction, Enforcement, and Eradication.
Youngkin signed an executive order last May with specific operations aimed toward fentanyl and trying to end the abuse and death of users by cutting off the supply. The report noted that 267 firearms were collected during those investigations.
