Course with backing of Satantic Temple available to students in Bristol, Tennessee
Teachings from a national group labeled as satanic under federal guidelines will be available to children at Bristol Tennessee Middle School.
Public school system officials released a statement on the Hellion Academy of Independent Learning. They must be allowed equal time and space afforded to Christian-based groups, according to Tennessee State Code. A statement from Bristol City Public Schools said it will be up to parents to decide if they want their children to participate, but they will not endorse or support the group but will classify while Bristol will list it as a time release course.
The Satanic Temple, the developers of the curriculum, said this is the second time their teachings will be available in Bristol.
