Greene County waives building permits for recovery

Greene County commissioners voted Monday to waive building permit fees for the repair or replacement of homes and businesses damaged or destroyed as a result of Hurricane Helene. The waiver of fees will last for one year. The waiver will apply to those who have FEMA identification that a structure was destroyed, partially destroyed, or affected. The resolution originally called for a 90-day waiver period, but it was amended to expand the period to one year. Building permits and inspections will still be required during the waiver period.
