ETSU poll: Most TN residents think state is headed in wrong direction

A poll of Tennesseans conducted by East Tennessee State University found that most of the state’s population thinks Tennessee is headed in the wrong direction. The Applied Social Research Lab at ETSU conducted the Tennessee Poll in July. A total of 701 Tennesseans were surveyed and asked their thoughts on health, education and quality of life. The poll found 56% of respondents believe the state is heading in the wrong direction, while the remaining 44% believe things are going well. Those surveyed were asked what the biggest problem facing Tennessee is as of July, with the economy being cited by 44% or respondents as the top issue. Politics, politicians and the upcoming election was the second-most concerning issue and immigration and border control as the third.
