AEP asks to lower rates for customers
Appalachian Power has submitted a request to lower the electric transmission cost for its Virginia customers. The utility is seeking permission from the Virginia State Corporation Commission to lower the transmission rate adjustment clause part of customers’ bills, that recovers costs for transmission services, fees, and new construction. According to Appalachian Power, the proposed rate decrease would decrease the monthly bill for a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours by $2.12. If approved, it would go into effect in early October. Appalachian Power has around 1 million customers in Virginia, West Virginia and Tennessee.
