Carter County Committee addresses poor audit concerns

The Carter County Financial Management Committee held a special-called meeting Thrusday to discuss solutions to audit findings after receiving their second consecutive poor audit. The comptroller’s audit included 10 findings, six of which were reported in the 2022 audit report that had not been corrected. Finance Director Carolyn Watson went over corrective actions to those six findings during the session. Solutions presented were for maintaining capital assets and Mayor Woodby says an accounting firm will be hired to work with the finance department for a period of time. Woodby says her number one priority is to eliminate those deficiencies found in the audits.
