Greene County EMS requests more staffing
During the Greene County Budget and Finance Committee meeting on Wednesday, Greene County/Greeneville EMS asked for eight new employee positions to help alleviate issues they have been experiencing. Director of the EMS for Greene County and Greeneville, Calvin Hawkins, says more employees would free up supervisors for medical investigations and help alleviate having to cancel non emergency transports for lack of available staff. Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison said that creating eight positions, which would cost approximately $500,000, is not feasible right now, but they would be able to give them two. Adding those positions will allow the EMS department to operate another day truck to assist with other calls. Morrison said that adding more positions could be something that the county reconsiders at a better time. The Greene County Budget and Finance Committee will now present the request to the County Commission.
