TN school voucher program “on life support” in Nashville
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s proposed school voucher program appears to be stalled in the state house, with some saying the bill is all but dead. The bill has languished during the session indicating a difficult path forward for it’s passage. Legislators say that testing requirements for schools are the biggest hold up. The Senate likes the current testing requirements, while the House would like to loosen some of those in favor of more instruction time. The house will pass a budget bill Tuesday with no allocation of dollars for the program, with the chance of reviving the legislation during this session almost impossible.
