Carter County child injured in lawnmower accident

A two-year-old in Carter County has been hospitalized after being struck by a lawnmower. Around 11:30 Thursday morning police responded to a home on Gap Creek Road in Hampton. When they arrived, they found a two-year-old who had a serious injury to their right leg. The child was flown to Niswonger Children’s Hospital. A family member was mowing the yard, and tangled in a swing-set, then did not realize the child had chased a dog behind the mower when he attempted to reverse it.
