Church Hill police officer charged after crash

A Church Hill police officer has been charged after allegedly driving under the influence and causing a crash in Kingsport. The crash took place on East Stone Drive near the Brookside Drive intersection on April 1. A Honda Pilot, in the median lane waiting to merge, was hit head on by a Jeep Wrangler driven by Church Hill Officer Ethan Mays. The Jeep flipped onto its top. Neither Mays nor the driver of the Honda were injured. Mays has been charged with DUI and failure to exercise due care. Mays had been suspended without pay.
