Carter County authorities investigating juvenile death
Carter County authorities are investigating after a 16-year-old was found dead underneath a vehicle on Thursday morning. Carter County deputies responded to a home on Hawkins Hill Lane around 10 a.m. Thursday after a 911 caller reported finding a deceased person. Deputies found a white Subaru down an embankment and located an unresponsive male juvenile under the vehicle. The juvenile was identified by authorities as a 16-year-old. The juvenile’s parents told police they had last seen their son around 1 a.m. and believed he left the home due to a window being open with the screen removed. A preliminary investigation indicated that the juvenile was attempting to steal the vehicle when it somehow came out of gear and ran him over. The juvenile died as a result of his injuries. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
