Tennessee High wins award for eligible senior voter registrations
The Tennessee Secretary of State’s Office is recognizing high schools that met student voter registration thresholds, and Tennessee High, the only school in the Northeast Tennessee region reaching the top award, has been recognized. The Anne Dallas Dudley Award is for signing up 100 percent of seniors eligible to vote. The award is named in honor of Tennessee suffragist, Anne Dallas Dudley, who worked to secure the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting women the right to vote. Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett is expected to officially present the award on April 12. The award is part of the Secretary of State’s Civics Engagement initiative to increase voter registration in Tennessee, preparing students to become actively engaged citizens.
