Kingsport man arrested after posing as missing woman

A man is facing charges after posing as a missing Kingsport woman, according to police. Kingsport police officers arrested 21 year old Michael David Thompson of Kingsport on Monday. Thompson posed as Layla Santanello, who has been missing since June of 2023. Thompson sent CashApp requests to several family members and friends of Santanello, after she was reported missing. The police department said there is no evidence that indicates Thompson had any involvement in Santanello’s disappearance. Thompson was taken to the Sullivan County Jail with a $15,000 bond.
