BMA votes down change to Kingsport city charter
Two resolutions requesting changes to Kingsport’s city charter failed during Tuesday night’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting. Both were proposed by outgoing Mayor Pat Shull. The first sought to change the charter to allow the board to set the compensation for board members. The second sought to change the mayor’s term from two years to four years, matching the term for aldermen. Both measures failed to get a second, and did not advance to a vote.
