Unicoi County Library loses books due to water damage
Unicoi County Public Library officials say they will have had to dispose of more than 2,700 books from the children’s section after officials say a sprinkler malfunction over the weekend damaged the room the books were held in. Library officials say the malfunction ruined about half the library’s children’s collection. The damage is expected to cost thousands of dollars and will be covered by insurance but the library must pay a $10,000 deductible first. Officials say the library runs on a tight budget and donations are being accept on the Unicoi County Public Library’s website.
