Sullivan County resident loses $11,000 in phone scam
Yet another scam consisting of calls to your personal cell phone has been reported. Authorities in Sullivan County are warning about the scam after a resident lost $11,000.T he Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says the scam consists of phone calls with scammers requesting payment of a fine for missing jury duty or a warrant. After this, they will ask for your personal and banking information. Police say the scams are hard to detect because scammers will use names and phone numbers associated with officers in the department. Once again, the sheriffs department says if you receive a call, report it to their office immediately.
