BREAKING: Major travel issues reported. TDOT says don’t travel.
Traffic problems persist after the winter storm warnings expired this morning. Treacherous travel has become a problem on both I-26 and I-81 as traffic is barely moving in both directions on both interstates at this hour. Routes 11 and 19 are both experiencing difficult conditions as well. TDOT says it’s crews are working at full force to clear and treat roadways, and to not travel today unless you absolutely have to. If you do need to travel today, it may be best to call ahead to your destination as many organizations and business’s have changed hours or are closed today. The NWS has issued a wind chill advisory for 5pm this afternoon, with nighttime wind chills expected near 15 below zero. The freezing temperatures could make travel difficult until temperatures reach above freezing on Thursday. Thursday Night another winter storm could move into the Tri Cities just before the weekend.
