Baby murder suspect involved in crash with Mount Carmel police official
A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the assistant chief of the Mount Carmel Police Department was injured when his SUV collided with another vehicle.
Preliminary details said policeman Scott Alley was in pursuit of another vehicle when the crash occurred near East Main and Hammond Avenue.
The other driver identified in the report as Dominic Liberto is charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to obey a traffic signal, and no proof of insurance. Liberto is also awaiting trial after he was indicted in 2021 on a murder charge connected to the death of 4-month-old Aspen Shepherd. The indictment said Liberto deliberately neglected and killed a child in December 2020.
