Carter County Hopes To Continue Providing Raises For Sheriff’s Employees, Property Tax Hike Likely
The Carter County Budget Committee continues to work on its 2023-2024 budget that includes a possible property tax increase and cuts to local non profit organizations. A 27 cent property tax hike is being discussed. The county’s current rate is two dollars and three cents per one hundred dollars of assessed value. And while the committee plans on cutting funding for non profits, they hope to generate about three million dollars from the rate hike. The money will fund raises for the sheriff’s office and county employees.
