UPDATE: Getaway SUV found, no sign of convicts in Hawkins County, Tennessee
The getaway vehicle two escapees used to leave Abingdon after escaping from the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail has been found in Hawkins County but there was no sign of the convicts.
Sheriff Blake Andis confirms the discovery of the gold Cadillac on Route 66 in Hawkins County, Tennessee Friday morning. He did note that Johnny Shane Brown, a county native, and Albert Lee Ricketson were observed and identified before the vehicle was discovered.
The two left a jail recreational yard Thursday afternoon. A total of $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the capture of both men. Their whereabouts are unknown, according to the sheriff.
Ricketson is serving time for an August 2020 double homicide while Brown is awaiting trial on federal charges and was captured in North Carolina after escaping the Sullivan County, Tennessee jail in February of last year.
