Weather service posts severe fire danger forecast for Friday afternoon in Mountain Empire
The National Weather Service in Morristown issued a statement Friday afternoon that states conditions in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia are favorable for increased fire danger.
The report said temperatures in the low 70s combined with dry forest fuel conditions and winds up to 20 miles per hour could cause fires to spread quickly.
The agency encourages those who decide to burn debris to use extreme caution.
