BUCHANAN COUNTY UPDATE: All unaccounted residents found, donations needed for cleanup

State officials say all people unaccounted for in Buchanan County, Virginia following a major flood event in the Whitewood / Pilgrim’s Knob area have been located.

Weeks of damage assessments and repairs are now the focus of operations with Route 714 closed indefinitely due to bridge damages.

A Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said cleaning supplies and hardware are items that will be needed for the long term and those donations can be delivered to Twin Valley Elementary School in Oakwood. Monetary contributions to help flood victims are being accepted by the United Way of Southwest Virginia.
