JC Commissioners Approve Budget Increase, Provide Raise Without Tax Hike
Thursday night, Commissioners in Johnson City will approve a more than 76 million dollar budget, that provides a seven and a half percent raise for city employees, and includes a nine percent increase in its budget for next year, all funded without a tax increase. Johnson City’s tax rate will remain at one dollar and 73 cents. The seven and a half percent raise as well as the increase in the operating budget will be funded by projected strong sales tax revenues and a healthy budget reserve.
