Hatcher Mountain fire 45 percent contained; new Millstone Gap fire spans 800 acres
Sevier County officials are working a new wildfire, the Millstone Gap fire, closer to the Blount County line. Emergency officials say this fire is zero percent contained as of Friday afternoon and currently spans across 800 acres. Evacuations are in place from the Blount County line to South Rogers Road.
Meanwhile, the Hatcher Mountain fire is now 45 percent contained with more than one hundred structures affected across 3,739 acres. Sevier County Government says the TBI has been requested to help local police determine the cause and origin of the Hatcher Mountain fire. A relief website formed during the previous Gatlinburg fires, mountaintough.org has been reactivated for those wishing to donate to those displaced or first responders.
