Kingsport Man Charged With Rape In Johnson City

A Kingsport man is arrested and charged with rape in an incident that occurred in Johnson City early Sunday morning. Johnson City Police say officers responded to an East Johnson City location concerning a sexual assault. Officers interviewed the victim who reported Jeffery P. Newman had sexually assaulted her. Newman was arrested following an investigation and being housed on a 50 thousand dollar bond in the Washington County,Tennessee Detention Center where he awaits an arraignment on Felony Rape charges.
