Eastman Fire Units Respond To Heat Transfer Fluid Leak
Environmental regulatory agencies have been notified by Kingsport’s Eastman Chemical Company following what the chemical manufacturer is calling a small, heat transfer fluid leak. Eastman’s own fire department responded to the incident that occurred Thursday morning. A heat transfer fluid leak includes the use of water to manage the released material. That action caused visible steam rising from the plant. A portion of that steam release created a sheen on the Holston River that was contained with the use of booms. No injuries were reported.
