Virginia Department of Transportation says winter weather advisory remains in effect through Monday afternoon
VDOT crews continue to work around the clock after an overnight winter storm dumped several inches of snow around the region. VDOT urges drivers to use caution as many areas are sill icy and snow-covered. VDOT says sections of Interstate 81 between Emory and Washington County, as well as areas in Wythe County remain snow-covered, as snow continues to fall.
Most highways in Buchanan County are covered in snow, and patches of ice and snow are still scattered across Wise and Lee Counties. VDOT says interstates and major highways are always the first priorities when treating roads, and drivers should adjust their speed to the conditions and only travel if they must.
