Highly Contagious Omicron Variant Now Dominate Strain, Children Could Drive Numbers Even Higher
Regional Health officials now say the Omicron Variant of the COVID19 virus is the dominant strain being reported and numbers could continue to rise as students return to classes after a two week holiday break. There were 96 new cases in Sullivan County on Monday according to TDH figures. In Washington County Tennessee, 82 new cases of the virus were recorded, pushing the regions total to more than 26 hundred new cases during the last seven days. Health officials are concerned students returning to school without preventive health requirements may drive the numbers even higher.
