Steven Davis named interim Commonwealth’s Attorney for Wise County, City of Norton

Wise County and City of Norton Commonwealth’s Attorney, Chuck Slemp, announced he is stepping down from his post, which he has held since 2016. Slemp says the current Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s attorney, Steven Davis, will assume the top prosecutor position, effective January 15th.

Davis will serve the rest of Slemp’s unexpired term, until a special election can be held in November to elect a new Commonwealth’s attorney. Additionally, Steven Davis announced he will seek the Republican nomination for this position in the upcoming election.
