One Dead In Helicopter Crash Near Gatlinburg

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Department in East Tennessee is reporting one person is dead after a helicopter crash near Cosby Tennessee Thursday afternoon. The helicopter went down near the Sevier-Cock County line around two thirty, fifteen miles northeast of Gatlinburg. The private helicopter took off from Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Airport in Sevierville. An eyewitness says the craft’s engine was struggling, and saw the helicopter going nose first into the trees. Authorities say there were two individuals on board. No word on the condition of the second individual.
