UPDATE: Names of officer injured, suspect involved in Abingdon incident on interstate released

Police have released the name of the officer injured during an incident on Interstate 81 in Abingdon and the suspect who tried to avoid capture.

Washington County, Virginia Deputy Tyler Arnold suffered a fractured neck, according to preliminary information, while trying to arrest Clinton Vestal who led officers on an auto chase through portions of the town.

The chase ended when Vestal’s vehicle became stuck in a median and he was then apprehended when he ran. Vestal is facing four charges including felony eluding, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.
