Inmate Serving Multiple Life Sentences, Dies From Apparent Wallens Ridge In-Cell Attack

An inmate and Big Stone Gap Virginia’s Wallens Ridge State Prison is dead following an apparent in-cell attack. The VDOC says in a release, a 47 year old male victim, was pronounced dead at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone, following the Saturday attack. The victim was serving multi life sentences for sexual offenses including rape. His name is being withheld at this time. The apparent assailant is serving a life sentence for murder. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
