Big Stone Gap Police Officer Seriously Wounded In Early Saturday Morning Shooting

A Big Stone Gap Virginia Police Officer is battling life threatening injuries after being shot while responding to a call early Saturday morning. Virginia State Police tell us the officer was shot shortly before five am in the 25 hundred block of Orr Street, just outside the town limits of Big Stone Gap. The officer was shot after responding to a residence on that street. The unidentified officer was transported to Norton Community Hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. Virginia State Police along with the Big Stone Gap Police Department, Wise County Sheriff’s Department and the Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorneys Office continue the investigation.
