Grazin’ in the grass: Kingsport enlists the help of 50 goats to clear Cement Hill
More than four dozen workers are on the clock for the city of Kingsport 24/7.
The pay is minimal but they don’t seem to mind the conditions. In fact, the layout and topography of Cement Hill must be delicious when you see their handiwork.
The city confirmed 50 goats have been chomping away on the future site of a new recreation park near downtown. An electric fence keeps the goats in a safe boundary and allows them to eat away at plants and other brush that mechanical cutters can’t reach.
Kingsport officials say folks are allowed to come and view the goats from a safe distance and a local farmer along with city staff members check up on the animals on a regular basis for safety.
