Southwest Virginia Police Offices Cleared Of Using Excessive Force

Two Southwest Virginia Police Officers will not be charged with excessive force relating to an incident that occurred back in August. Two Tazewell Police officers were accused of using excessive force when one of the officers tazed a suspect who was causing a confrontation at a local business. Officers repeatedly commanded Anthony Fuller to step away from his vehicle after threatening customers at the establishment. Fuller refused officers commands on numerous occasions. Officers attempted to remove Fuller from his truck and a scuffle ensued and one officer was cut when Fuller stabbed the officer with a pen. It took five officers and a civilian to subdue Fuller even after he had been tazed. Blood tests showed Fuller had meth, pot and alcohol in his system and was armed with several throwing axes and a machete.
